Moxy Bern

Inspired by the architectural character of Bern’s old town with its arcades and alleyways, the Moxy’s design marries traditional highlights with modern interpretations. In the lobby, radiant swathes of incandescent bulbs are suspended in a series of curves: an eye-catching feature that captivates guests and immediately draws them into the space with the subtle allusion to the historic arcades.

The unique lighting installation envisioned by JOI-Design moves playfully throughout the entire lobby, bathing the surfaces with a warm glow while supporting the interiors concept created by the studio: an evening stroll through the old town. Even the bar design is shaped by insider knowledge of the city, as seen with its cladding styled to look like the cellar trap doors that lead to trendy underground bars throughout Bern. Natural colours and materials including raw concrete, rough bricks, and dark walls and ceilings support this harmonious ambience, while quirky accents reflect the personality of the Moxy brand.
