Residence Inn Munich Central - Products curated by JOI-Design
About the project: the Residence Inn by Marriott Munich Central is part of the Schwanthalerhöhe district in Theresienwiese, they city’s West End where Oktoberfest takes place. The large-scale project, originally built in the early Seventies as a "hackerspace" for creative makers, sits atop the demolished beer cellars of Hacker Bräu and Pschorr and is currently undergoing a complete renovation. The typical concrete style of this construction era has been revitalised and preserved in a contemporary architectural language. Inside, the Residence Inn combines residential comforts with the services of a modern hotel so guests can make the most of their time away from home. A cosy, casual design with nuanced pops of colour and subtle nods to the seventies creates an inviting living room ambience with styling that goes back to the days when this was still a major brewery location.
Trolley 'Chariot'; Johnson Health, Casamania (Italy)
Serving trolleys have had a real revival in recent years because they are, of course, super-practical – but also because they express what we want our hotel interiors to convey: these special spaces are about enjoyment and hospitality – here, you are welcome! This modern interpretation of a trolly could not be left out of our concept!
Barstool 'Oleandro', Calligaris (Italy)
It’s not always easy when looking for contemporary barstools: satisyfing modern appeal as well as the desire for comfort! With this model, both go together wonderfully, plus it’s available in a pleasing intermediate height as shown here: 65cm, which looks a bit more cosy and relaxed.
Concept-related art curation, Wurm Design (Germany)
This too, is not always easy, but it's also a 'must' for us in every design story: art concepts individaully tailored to each project’s unique narrative. Here we are very happy with the results of our joint cooperation in developing a scheme that, in a variety of ways, brings the many traditions of the Bavarian way of life into the here and now.
Side table 'Chap', Miniforms (Italy)
These characterful side tables in two different heights add expressive drama in the otherwise rather chilled-out, residential-feeling ambience. They play on the black-and-white contrast of the entrance area’s floor tiles while forming a subliminal arc into the postmodern design of the Seventies.
Counter chair 'Nuez BQ2776', Andreu World (Spain)
For the counter, we looked for casual high seating that invites you to have a snack as well as quickly check emails: this model won us over with its beautifully detailed craftsmanship!
Couch Table Set 'Tray Tables', Ethnicraft (Belguim)
It was important to us that, despite these coffees tables‘ contemporary appearance, they would also bring a touch of cosiness and, of course, functionality: this table set is a small all-rounder since it can be used in a wide variety of combinations while bringing modern lightness to the room.
Pendant lamp 'Multi-Lite', Gubi (Denmark)
Designed back in 1972, this beautiful lamp is an absolute classic: the name says it all, because its adjustable lampshades indivdually swivel to adjust the direction of light projection. In this way, different interior areas can be illuminated, and on top of that, the luminaire looks like a multifunctional sculpture in the room.
