About the project: Small but mighty: a boutique hotel with a thatched roof and uniquely situated on the dune with breathtaking sea views. Containing 15 rooms, two-storey maisonettes, and suites; a Michelin-starred restaurant that has held its 2-star rating for years; and now, a refined bijoux spa the newly created 'JP’s Living Room' that, every day, serves lunch from the star chef. A short time ago, the public areas were completely renovated and realigned – here are our selected highlights:
Gingko Chandelier ,C/117‘, Andreea Braescu (Romania)
The house on the dune has always held highly personal, individualised decorative features. Porcelain finishes characterise the natural feel that permeates the island, thanks in part to the plentiful use of Nordic-style tiles typically found in the interiors of thatched houses. This custom-made porcelain chandelier reflects the hotel’s closeness to nature by poetically entwining small gingko leaves that playfully float next to the new reception desk.
Leyasol Lounge Swing Seat & Leyasol Rocking Lounge Chair, Freifrau (D)
The chandelier rests over an ensemble of a swing and a rocking chair: both from the 'Leya' series by the North German manufacturer, Freifrau. This duo extends a welcome from the moment guests enter the new design and immediately invites them to sit back and relax whenever they go by.
Hanging Lamp ,Nightbloom’, Lladró (Spain)
Cosy sofas and lounge chairs next to a fireplace create a relaxed atmosphere in the living room, all accentuated by oversized flower lights suspended from the ceiling. These white, abstract blooms bathe the room in subdued illumination and are also made from porcelain in a more modern interpretation of the reception chandelier’s delicate gingko leaves.
Chair ,562’, Rolf Benz (Germany)
A hybrid of a small armchair and a dining seats: these comfortable lounge chairs fit perfectly with the space. The upholstered backrest provides necessary warmth while the tiber frame adds a natural spirit – and the highlight: the swivel function offers absolute comfort even when getting in and out. That's what made this little all-rounder the perfect choice for us!
Armchair ‚Jane‘, Poliform (Italy)
If you want to relax a bit further in the living room, you can lean back in this armchair and read a good book after dinner. Its inviting shape and comfort, yet at the same time, slim profile, won us over!
Pendant Lamp ‚Meshmatics‘ Model Large, Moooi (Netherlands)
As you may have noticed, a special focus on beautiful yet functional luminaires was very important to us when designing this project. This pendant lamp guides the pathway through the corridors while perfectly embodying a modern translation of the water’s proximity and the treasures of the sea – it reminded us of fishing nets.
Armchair ‚Crinoline‘, B & B Italia (Italy)
Upon arrival in the spa, this delicate high-back wicker chair enchants you into a dream: a fantasy pattern of differently sized flowers makes the nature lover's heart beat faster and, at the same time, its tall backrest provides reassurance even when sitting in the centre of the room. It’s our favourite seat in the spa!
