The Zipper Düsseldorf

Located beside the Schön Klinik hospital in Dusseldorf, Germany, The Zipper Hotel & Apartments is a newly opened HOSPITALITY X project, designed by JOI-Design. The Zipper offers insights on how we weave ‘HUMANITY’ into our creative process. A healthcare and hospitality hybrid that is geared towards healthy digital living and connections with nature, the striking zipper-inspired building by renowned architect J. Mayer H. features a multidisciplinary medical centre in its first five stories, above the Apartments and community spaces are located.

With the intention of creating a modern living community that taps into today’s zeitgeist for health-oriented living, we designed the interiors to help guests tailor their own versions of a healthy work/life balance: ‘havens of HUMANITY’ in both the physical sense of caring for the human body, as well as compassion for their mental health.
Short- and long-stay residents can live in a community that encourages healthy living. We chose FF&E materials in their organic states, biophilic features, and the Zipper in orange, it’s a design feature. This result is a property with mindfulness, wellbeing and HUMANITY at as core that interlinks, like a zipper, the varying needs of hospitality and healthcare clientele into one cohesive concept.
