Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg - Products curated by JOI-Design
About the project: This luxury hotel in the heart of the Hanseatic city received a complete renovation and entrusted us to revitalise the public areas. Below are insights into the meticulously designed individual components that add up to the refined big picture while exemplifying what drives our passion: our ‘attention to detail’ allows each guest to enjoy their own path of discovery. Thoughtful touches noticed upon first or second glance make lingering impressions that inspire guests’ memories of their stays.
Armchair ‚Mad Joker‘, Poliform (Italy)
It starts with casually curved wingback chairs that create a sense of protection yet remain in the flow of the public areas‘ hustle and bustle. Guests can choose if they just want to 'see' - or if they also want to 'be seen'. We were impressed by these chairs‘ modern design language that breathes a bit of today’s zeitgeist into the luxurious lobby.
Table Lamp 'Equatore Small'/ Shade 'Pink', Fontana Arte (Italy)
An affixed lamp provides the 'icing on the cake' of the cube-shaped reception desks made from fine dark marble. This graceful luminaire reappears in a floor lamp version amongst the seating area, illuminating the scene with classical elegance.
Side Table 'Mush Coffee Table', Sollos (Brazil)
We immediately fell in love with this small side table because it brings lightness and transparency yet radiates exclusivity in a charming manner. It mixes perfectly with other design styles - and our personal discovery: you can even integrate flowers within the small central indentation. For us and this project, it was a sympathetic little all-‘rounder!
Barstool 'ML42', Audo Copenhagen (Denmark)
Light installation 'Wave of Grace', Felsch Lighting Design (Germany)
Directly at the entrance, this art illumination - created especially for the project - leads guests into the building in a spirited way: Created through an intensive cooperation between lighting designer Markus Felsch and our team, this elegant 'swing'-shaped piece is formed from nothing but different sizes of backlit glass beads that can change the colour of light emitted via a control system. The 'pearl' is a central motif in our interiors concept since our hometown is affectionately nicknamed, 'Hamburg, my pearl' – so this installation elegantly weaves this idea into the design.
Carpet, JAB Anstoetz (D)
Not only are the carpets particularly beautiful and eye-catching with their patterns‘ subtle references to the Elbe and Alster rivers, they‘re also a small ‘feel-good‘ zone for your feet after a tiring day of shopping in the posh boutiques just around the corner from the hotel, when relaxing over a coffee, or wait for a seat in the restaurant.
Pendant lamps 'Knot', Brokis (Czech Republic)
In the restaurant itself, the proximity to water is even more apparent: we are at fleet level, and the waterline that flows directly in front of the windows corresponds with the interiors through very different means. In the centre of the dining area, a procession of lightly tinted glass pendant lights 'dance' like water drops suspended from the ceiling.
